Building Your Website

We start with a meeting to identify the needs of your project. We will ask a series of questions with topics ranging from your broad marketing goals to more focused questions about your current site (if you have one). The answers to these questions leads us to do some initial research into user needs, relevant technologies, search engine and advertising placement, and a design aesthetic. At this point we present a proposal.

To build the site, we take the following steps:

1. We start with building content maps, wireframes, and storyboards to understand how best to structure content.
2. We apply what we learned in the first step to a visual design, individually crafted to suit the needs and aesthetic of the project.
3. After working with the client to develop the design, we handcraft the code to bring the site to life. We pay close attention to standards-compliance and cross-browser compatibility.
4. We do a final pass through user testing and research to catch any last minute usability improvements.
5. We use clickstream tools to monitor the site after we bring it live. In certain cases we also do post-live A/B testing.

We're big fans of research-driven development, so throughout the entire process we do user testing with Silverback to identify possible usability improvements or to test our design hunches.
